In fact, “The Common”, a favorite among Bostonians, was the US’s first public park!
  • A world-class transportation system. When you eventually tire of walking, you can hop aboard the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA, or as its more affectionately called, “the T”) – one of the country’s best and oldest transit systems. The T connects the neighbourhoods and suburbs of Boston with a reliable network of trains, buses, and subways.
  • A highly education population! Hah-vahd aside, Boston is home to 35 colleges hosting over 152,000 students! Just under half of Boston residents hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher, so you won’t be at a loss if you’re looking for someone to philosophize with over a pint.
  • A whole lot of die-hard sports fans. Many Boston locals share a deep love for their professional sports teams; it’s worth brushing up on your Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics, or Bruins stats so you can experience the almost magical hype for yourself.
  • An infamously high cost of living. While Boston is generally more affordable than New York and San Francisco, the cost of living here is roughly 50% above the national average. For this reason, many Boston newcomers choose to rent to get around the hefty property prices, but beware, the rental market can be fiercely competitive, particularly during peak student seasons!
